About the Book
The Road of Service
From Civil Defense to the Legislature and a Lifetime of Public Service
This book was not written just to list events, dates, or positions I held over the years. It was written to share the experiences, choices, and values that shaped my life and the work I have done.
Over time, I had the chance to serve in different roles. I worked in public office, in housing, and in community work. Each stage of my life came with its own challenges and responsibilities. Even though the roles changed, my purpose stayed the same. I always believed that the work I did should help others and create real opportunities for people and families.
This is not a story of a perfect plan. Many things in my life happened step by step. Some choices were made in the moment, and some paths opened because I was willing to take on responsibility when it came my way. There were good moments and difficult ones, and I learned from both. Those lessons helped guide me forward.
In this book, you will see parts of my life in different areas like politics, housing, and community work. These may seem like different fields, but they are all connected in one important way. They are all about building strong communities and helping people find stability and opportunity in their lives.
